First of all let me take the opportunity to sincerely thank you for your donation. I want to let you know that your donation will really help out our school. I am an American Volunteer from the Peace Corps. I teach English, coordinate projects, coach Baseball, and do anything else my school needs.
We are a small vocational school in a small town in Bulgaria called Tervel. Our school is the only vocational school in our county. We primarily serve students who live in the 17 villages in our township. We also are a very diverse school. Half of our students are Bulgarian while the other half are Turkish-Bulgarian and Romi (gypsy)-Bulgarian. The area we live in produces most of the wheat products and sunflower products in Bulgaria.
Our school offers four specialties. We prepare students to be automation experts, electricians, agricultural machine operators, and textile machine operators (tailors). Some students also study vehicle safety and how to properly drive a vehicle. They also study tractor safety and how to properly drive different sizes of tractors. They study the different parts of machines and how they work. They have practical experience in large factories with machinery. Different students have practical experience with installing electrical systems in the school.
Most of the students here learn English as a second language and they start studying English in the 9th grade. I can finally have the students read a novel together. This novel is perfect. It appears to be interesting and to the students level. My school also wants to provide the students in the different specialties a chance to learn English. Bulgaria is in the European Union and English is very important for these students. In Bulgaria the students have to buy their textbooks and the textbooks you gave me are super. The students are too poor to buy textbooks and now we have a set that they can use. Thank you very much for your support. If you want some photographs please send me an email and I will email them.
